My dear one, you have already turned one
Difficult to believe the 365 trips around the sun
You have been a bundle of joy providing bounty of fun
It has been one of those times when pride fills me next to none

The early days and nights resonated with energy levels lows and highs
The attention you demanded with your loud and far reaching cries
The focus on present seemed to be your message and demand
The life revolved around you and all your wishes were my command

I never knew that you had begun to closely hear,
I realized the same only when you insisted on lending your ear,
The pull at the phone and trying to make some sense
The untrained efforts to connect without any pretense

Then you began your prowl around by starting your crawls
Believe it or not, I periodically in the interest of safety got into a brawl
You had an innate intelligence when ever you hit a wall
And you seemed to forget and move on as an ever revolving ball

Then came the day when your exploration necessitated a walk
It was the defining moment when no one could resist the talk
For me it was a moment of truth my little one taking her baby step
Time stood still letting me absorb progress without an inadvertent slip

As you begin to now sound out your early words
