New Year

Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year
A repetitive synchronicity that one generally tends to now hear
The best wishes may provide some element of cheer
But may also invite jeer when one leads a life with fear and a focus unclear

One may like to argue the relevance of these greetings
Trying to probe regards the presence/absence of depth in meaning
Does one sincerely make an effort to go beyond the expressions?
Does one restrict it as a matter of habit, a norm of social etiquette?

Can one ever change another’s life with one’s best wishes?
Should it not be motivated by a life led inside out?
Can a greeting ever drive a person to take up action without conviction?
Does the gesture hold relevance beyond the transactional occurrence?

A person who is in high spirits may reach higher levels of orbit
A person wallowing in self pity may get motivated or feel that destiny has not been just
A person who lives a care free existence may be ambivalent
But does the person making the greeting ever know the underlying emotion?

The relevance should ideally go beyond the frames of social etiquette
The intent should lack any hint of pretense and should not be ring fenced
The emotions should be close to one’s heart such that it spreads cheer
The positive vibrations from within should ideally have the universe embrace
