Education

There seems to be a kind of revolution where everyone wants to revamp the learning system
Those who have been a part of the process recommend ways to improve to those at the helm
Those who have been exposed to multiple cultures have their diverse opinions on education
The conservatives and loyalists to local causes have their own view on medium of instruction

Is education a process where individuals get exposed to the universe that they live in?
Is education a means to develop knowledge and skills to earn a source of livelihood?
Is education an opportunity to learn linguistic skills to help interact across culture?
Is education an end in itself where theory and practice fails to converge in daily lives?

Is education aimed at facilitating individuals to reflect on their true purpose in life?
Is education helpful in assisting individuals to develop their talent as they live through life?
Is education helpful in assisting individuals to consciously lead mindful and fulfilling lives?
Is education inculcating in individuals the power of collaboration rather than unhealthy competition?

Is education an activity that gets restricted or highlighted for individuals at a certain age?
Is education a one-time learning where the expertise gets measured by the qualification?
Is education a product where the quality of tutoring has a direct correlation with affordability?
Is education an act that further creates discrimination and contributes to social divide?

Is education a process where securing maximum marks is the only measure of credibility?
Is education a process where one needs to compromise on interest to gain social acceptance?
Is education a process where one picks up vocation that seem to command respect in society
Is education a contributing evil where an individual never ever discovers his true latent self?

Does education empower individuals with insights to face various stages of life transition?
Does education empower individuals with ability to rightly judge the character of other fellow beings?
Does education enlighten individuals to live a life of right conduct and appropriate behaviour?
Does education encourage individuals to fight for justice and stand up to wilful exploitation?

Does education guide individuals to live a life of co-operation and look beyond self-interest?
Does education ever highlight the ultimate truth about the ultimate mortality of all beings?
Does education influence an individual to consider the bigger picture when taking decisions?
Does education influence an individual to consider long-term consequences of his actions?

Does education inculcate in individuals the right value system and importance of ethics?
Does education encourage individuals to practise right conduct and live a life of integrity?
Does education encourage individuals to expand their mind by testing their curiosity?
Does education encourage individuals to leave behind legacy beyond their own inheritance?

Does education encourage an individual to let go the untested, old limited beliefs of the past?
Does education encourage an individual to confront possible misguided views of the present?
Does education encourage an individual to aspire to create a future not currently envisaged?
Does education provide freedom and space to individuals to express themselves to the world?

Each one may have our view point and our lives may be living examples of what we stand for
Each one of us need not wait for others to take the first step and can be the catalyst of change
Each one of us need not continue to complain about forces beyond our span of control
Each one of us can take the first step and may be surprised with the result the world extols!

Go back to the Gurukul days. I bet learning was lot more fun back then than today. I would love to have someone teach me the ways and means of the world in a natural setting at my own pace without worrying about earning a degree. I guess my opinions don't count much on this topic as I have been a rebel all through my life when it comes to accepting the educational system we have.

Never ever discount your opinion at any point of time.

It has been my observation that people who have generally contributed in bringing about changes are those who have a different view than the majority. Their approach to life and the scope with which they view the world is fairly different than the majority and that is one of the value addition they bring to the table. How they are able to influence people over a period of time may determine the outcomes they seek to achieve?

I would love to hear from you as regards how do you think should the Education System be structured and your expectations around the same.

Thanks for your ongoing interests and timely contribution.
