Appreciate What You Have

Many of us exhibit a mindset to take what we have for granted
It is almost like what we have so far achieved is no more wanted
What we have in hand today also required us in the past to invest effort and time
Then why does it happen that remaining satisfied gets perceived as a crime

Many of us aspire for new possessions that we see others are endowed with
Many of us aspire for good health being aware that sickness tests one’s grit
Many of us aspire for personal and professional growth to move beyond monotony
Many of us aspire for peace of mind to live one’s life in complete harmony

Many a time we lack sensitivity in the craze to fulfil our never ending wants
Many a time we lose our temper contributing to lasting memories that comes to haunt
Many a time we exhibit a nagging behaviour that we believe contributes to other’s need
Many a time we continue to operate from bleeding memories of the past that is just worth a weed

Many a time we fail to focus on the good qualities of people preferring to focus on imperfection
Many a time we forget the good memories preferring to only remember moments of frustration
Many a time we lose track of relationships but are ready to offer condolences in times of hardship
Why do we fail to appreciate what we already have that actually contributes to one’s loss of grip?

Many a time people are constrained by circumstances. Many acts may not be intentional but people become emotional. But guess, one needs to learn to develop and demonstrate self-control. May help one to lead a better life.

Good work. Keep writing and sharing.

I guess the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence which causes us to look outwards. This leads to us focusing on "What we do not have" and thereby negating "What we have".

People and their perceptions of us tend to influence us in many ways and an erosion of our identity takes place over time. That's when we stop appreciating what we have.

It is a conscious habit that needs to be practised diligently.

The process needs to be self initiated. As one of the leading thought leader makes a compelling argument for change as a 5 step process
1.One needs to be very clear in terms of what does he want to do?
2.What does he want to do that for?
3.What will getting the outcome do for him?
4.How will he know that he has attained that outcome?
5.How does it look, sound and feel specifically?

Thanks once again.
