Festival of Colors

It is time for the flight of colors in the air
To reflect boundless enthusiasm not restricted to a pair
People irrespective of age, community and gender
Let loose their emotions and feelings to dream and wander

There is the mythology of the shooting of the love arrow
To evoke the interest of the Great Lord beyond his interests very narrow
The sacrifice of the Love God to regenerate interest in worldly affairs
The onset of spring to balance a life of harmony with love, cheer and care

It all starts with the collection of wood to burn the devil
The ritual of Holika Dahan symbolizes triumph of victory over evil
The onset of spring is welcomed with pomp and joy galore
The wait is over for the enjoying the tradition of playing with color

The day is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and fun
Children love to experiment especially with their spray water gun
Singing and dancing to the beat of the resounding drum
Relishing the delicacies and the special drink lets loose a passion on the run

People reflect a riot of colors largely red, yellow, blue, magenta or green
Nature seems to rejoice and display its treasure in full bloom and gleam
The fragrance in the air reflects the departure of winter with onset of summer
The naughty and mischievous tempt one to indulge and temporarily even be a sinner

The larger picture is laced to celebrate a spirit of cheer and brotherhood
To strengthen the emotional connect and revitalize relationships for good
To forget temporary hardships that one may face in the present
To rejoice, make merry and submerge self in the Universal ascent!
