The Real You

As you wander down your inner alley comes the haunting questions – Who’s the Real You?
Are you clued on to your natural self or are have you put yourself in a spot with your adapted self
There have been so many experiences that you have had, it may be difficult to focus and pinpoint
And identify the real you in the midst of all the imaging, positioning and facades that you wear

It may seem that there are moments when you feel like tearing down your hair
In search for your identify as regards where do you truly belong and are awaited
There may be a hazy clarity as regards your inner most desires and feelings
But yet there may be a foggy cover that clouds vision and constrains honest intent

It may have been quite some time that you really felt you are doing what you truly want
You have made many adjustments and compromises on the way keeping other’s interests in mind
There may have been times that you have stepped down to accommodate other’s dreams
Sooner than later it occurs to you that you have just one life and it is better living out your vision

You may have taken actions that may have felt appropriate at that point of time
There is no point in feeling miserable thinking about alternate paths that you could have taken
A learning that you can take away over the ages is that you need to be honest to yourself
Acknowledge your inner feelings and emotions and not submitting to acts of reprisal

As they say your external experiences are just a fleeting tip of the iceberg
There is more to your core than your past and its time you took charge
You can immediately assess the difference in terms of your own state of mind
Your relaxed and calm countenance will be reflected in the warmth of your aura!

Quite thought provoking! Given that the past few months have been a process of self discovery for me, I can relate to this poem very well. Who is the "Real You", by the way?
